Ferrell played the role of a straight guy who had an affair with a lovely woman. Still, the actor faced criticism, and he responded to those criticizes by saying,

“For someone who’s just found out they’re going to be incarcerated, sexual assault would be on their mind because it exists.”

“All we’re doing as comedians is holding up a mirror to things that actually exist out there.”

Another character named Darnell (Kevin Hart) also said things against critics in the movie. He said, “People are going to watch it, and America will have a different understanding and laugh at what we all are guilty of.” [Source: BBC

Both Ferrell and Hart said they don’t care about the critics and focus on the opinions of their fans. Willing Ferrell’s avoidance of the critics proves he is straight, and he was offended by the false news about sexuality.
